Currently Detroit School of Arts (DSA) was reported to be
under a deficit this past couple of years, in which the 2013 school year has
placed eight of their teachers in other Detroit Public Schools (DPS) and a cut
in their arts curriculums. Willie McAllister, Director of Fine Arts with
Detroit Public schools discussed this with some alumni during an impromptu
afternoon meeting Friday, September 6th.He is one of the many who will be contacted to discuss the
current and future state of the Detroit School of Arts. As a fellow DPS of
Northwestern High School that closed last year is now the location for College
Preparatory Academy at Northwestern. He brings decades of knowledge being a
former student of this district. -

The Alumni Association also took a stand in support to help bring
awareness to the other alumni across the country as well. These people play a role in making sure the integrity and
the standards for the high school remains. Detroit School of Arts is the
only high school with a concentration in fines arts; at the moment these few
are keeping the information relevant in the community.More experts will be contacted within the Detroit
Public Schools administration. With there information and understanding all
parties could possibly come to an understanding where students, teachers, and
the district will be on one accord for a solution.Time will only tell the ending results with the efforts of those who support and want to see the school to succeed.
